apple pie

American apple pie is one of my family’s favorite cakes. With an authentic taste, this is one of those simpler cakes that captivates with its appearance and leaves no one indifferent. If you serve it with ice cream, enjoyment in every bite is guaranteed!

Components:

Dough:

  • 200 g of butter (softened at room temperature)
  • 150 g of sugar
  • 1 vanilla sugar (or a few drops of vanilla)
  • 2 egg yolks
  • A spoonful of sour cream
  • 3 tablespoons oil (or shortening)
  • 400 g of flour
  • 1 baking powder

Stuffing:

  • 1 kg of apples
  • 2 tablespoons of cinnamon
  • 20 g of yellow sugar


Preparation:


Step 1 – Beat butter with sugar and vanilla sugar, then add egg yolk, cream and oil.


Step 2 – Mix flour and baking powder, add to the prepared mixture and combine with a food processor. You need ten minutes to knead the dough, no longer, because it is not good to knead it for a long time. The dough should be crumbly and fall apart in your hands. Put it in a freezer bag and leave it in the fridge for half an hour. Then divide it into two parts and roll out one half with a rolling pin or your hand in the dish in which you will bake it. Prick the dough with a fork and pour the filling.

Step 3 – Filling: cut half of the peeled apples into cubes or slices, and grate the other half. Sprinkle with cinnamon, sugar and mix everything.
Step 4 – Knead the second half of the dough a little more, then thin it to a thickness of 1 cm in the shape of a circle and cut it into strips as long as your baking sheet, and the width of the strips should be about 2 cm. First arrange them in one direction, and then in the opposite direction.
Step 5 – Bake at 200 degrees for about half an hour. When it cools down, sprinkle with powdered sugar and enjoy!
